Ilkley’s recent run good of form came to an end as they were beaten 4-0 by league leaders Carlton.
Carlton began the better of the two teams, winning the second balls and playing some attractive football.
On 11 minutes Carlton almost went in front, the ball was played to striker James Kitson whose effort was comfortably saved by Ilkley keeper James Hirst.
There’s was another scare for Ilkley on 15 minutes. Carlton winger Daniel Chadwick whipped the ball into the ball and there was Kitson with a free header which ended up on the top of the net.
Ilkley had their best chance of the game on 28 minutes a long range effort from Dan Chadwick was saved spectacularly by Carlton goalkeeper Jonathan Gardner.
There was a glorious chance for Ilkley to go in front on 34 minutes.
Richard Schofield put in a brilliant ball into the box and there was striker Adam Fowler who met it, but missed from two yards.
Ilkley pressed, but could not get the goal that they deserved.

Carlton begin the second strongly, centre back David Pickering had a long range effort that Hirst eventually gathered.
On 60 minutes Carlton almost went in front, a devastating counter attack from the left hand side, the ball found its way to Scott Burns, whose shot just went wide of the far post.
However two minutes later Carlton broke the deadlock, a corner from the right found its way to Sam Graham who side footed it past Hirst.
There was controversy on 67 minutes when Carlton went 2-0 up, Ilkley thought Fowler was fouled the referee ignored these claims and Kitson had a simple finish past Hirst.
Carlton then made it 3-0 on 74 minutes, Reece Fennell played a brilliant through ball for Tom Griffiths, whose shot hit the inside of the post and into the back of the net.
Carlton then made it 4-0 on 90 minutes when Fennell’s delightful finish somehow found its way past Hirst.
