Baht’atters Learn Fixtures For July And August

As the return of football draws ever closer, it’s time to look forward to the Baht’atters fixtures during the opening two months of the North West Counties Football League, writes Matthew Lambe.

Our maiden fixture of our second season as a member of the NWCFL sees us travel into Lancashire to meet the newly-named Darwen FC on 30th July, where we will be looking to replicate our emphatic victory over the Salmoners last season in the reverse fixture, which was voted as one of the best games of the season by our supporters.

We welcome the sole relegated side, Runcorn Town, to the MPM Stadium in our first home fixture, on 2nd August. This will be our first ever time facing them, and naturally they will be looking to bounce back immediately into the Premier League.

Next up, the Baht’atters face Bacup Borough away on Wednesday evening, with an 8pm kick off. We will be looking to reverse the result from the last time we played the East Lancashire outfit, which saw us dramatically exit from the Edward Case Cup on penalties following a thrilling 3-3 draw.

On Saturday 13th August, we travel to newly-promoted side FC St Helens. This, again, is a team we haven’t previously faced in our history, but as we know there are no easy games in this league.

In the following weekend, we host Holker Old Boys at the MPM Stadium. The Cumbrian outfit came tantalisingly close to promotion last season, but were defeated by Golcar United in extra time of the play off final, so will be looking to make amends this time around.

The final game of August sees us welcome Nelson FC across the Pennines to Yorkshire, who also nearly achieved promotion. After playing out two evenly-matched games against them last season that both eventually went their way, we will be looking to bag some points against the Burnley-based side this season.
