Success for Ilkley Town under 13s

The U13’s enjoyed double success in the first half of the season, with the Blues and the Yellows squads topping their divisions in the Craven Aire & Wharfe league.

Up until this age, matches are officially ‘friendlies’ with no league tables being published, so with this being the first fully competitive season the league decided to split the season and have two scheduled rounds of matches. This meant that winners were declared at Christmas for the first half of the season, with promotions and relegations taking place prior to a re-start in January for the second half of the season.

Even though they only managed to complete 7 of their scheduled 9 games due to Covid and weather postponements, the U13 Blues won Division A, finishing a point ahead of Bingley Juniors in second place, who had completed all oftheir games. With 7 wins out of 7, and a goal difference of +55, they were the outstanding team in their division and deservedly topped their group.

The Yellows had a nail-biting finish to the season, needing to win their last game to have a chance of winning Division C. They succeeded in doing so in style, blowing the opposition away 6-2 and ended up on equal points with Bolton Woods, both teams having won 9 and lost 1 of their 10 games. With nothing splitting them after an almost near-perfect run of results, the league awarded a trophy to both teams as joint-winners.

The wins are a product of the age group as a whole, and all players have contributed whether directly involved with the BluesYellows, or with the other U13 squad, Whites. Congratulations to all of them, and good luck for the rest of the season.
