Goal friendly game for Ilkley ends in a draw

On a wet Saturday afternoon, Ilkley Town AFC produced an impressive comeback and got a point against Nostell which extends their impressive start to the season, writes Evan Seaman.

Despite the low turnout in attendance, Nostell burst out of the blocks when Gracjan Klimczak opened the scoring for the visitors after catching Ilkley on the break, shortly followed by Cyrus Rowe’s goal.

But then as the game went on Ilkley grew into the match and new signing Eliel Maville-Anku dispatched the ball from the spot to half the deficit for the hosts.

Ilkley continued to dominate possession and Alfie Dean got two goals in quick succession in the second half which swung momentum back with the hosts.

But neither team were able to find the winning goal and the match rather fizzled out in by the end.

The result leaves Ilkley just outside the playoff race whereas Nostell remain in real gait on dogfight.

Next up for Ilkley is Ossett United in the West Riding County Cup second round, so they will be looking to play as well as possible.
