Armstrong to leave after 5 years in charge

Women’s Manager Claire Armstrong has decided she will leave the club at the end of the season.

The committee would like to thank Claire and her team for the huge contribution they have made to establishing and developing the women’s section at the club over the last five seasons. Under Claire’s leadership the women have won two league titles, reached a League Cup semi-final, twice competed in FA Cup qualifying rounds and progressed to Tier 6.

Claire’s last match in charge will against Rossington Main FC on 12 April.

Women’s first team assistant manager Simon Armstrong and development team coaches Steve Orchard and Stefan Macina are also stepping down at the end of the season. The committee thank them all for their valuable contribution to women’s football at the club.

Ilkley Town AFC is fully committed to continuing to field two senior women’s teams and provide a player pathway for the 225 junior girls registered at the club. To that end, recruitment is underway for managers for both the first and development teams. Interested applicants should contact Steve Miles on football@ilkleytownafc.co.uk
