Ilkley Gain Momentum After Blistering Start

Following on from Ilkley’s resounding 0-3 victory against Darwen FC, they will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season when they host newly promoted Runcorn Town this Saturday, writes Evan Seaman.

Sam Dexter’s side have already managed half the amount of away wins they accumulated last season and were also able to pick up a rare clean sheet as well. The scorers were new signings Jack Lane and Shaban Mehmeti and Tom Smith.

Although they say don’t look at the table until later in the season, the result has propelled them into 5th in the playoffs for the first time ever. Ilkley have also already bettered last season’s start to the campaign when it took them 6 games just to pick up a point.

New goalkeeper Charlie Bell made a perfect start to his career with the Baht’atters when he got a clean sheet on his debut, and there were overall 5 debutants in last Saturdays lineup in Ilkley’s new look team.

Whereas for Runcorn, they made a solid yet unremarkable start to life in the Northwest Counties Division One North when they drew 1-1 with AFC Blackpool last season’s playoff semi-finalists thanks to Chad White’s strike in the 23rd minute.
