Ilkley’s Solid Defensive Record Continues

As Ilkley prepare to face Holker Old Boys on Saturday afternoon at the MPM Stadium, they will undoubtedly be hoping to build on their faultless defensive record as they have now gone about 6 hours without conceding a goal, writes Evan Seaman.

After playing their first four games of the campaign without shipping any goals, this has helped them to propel themselves into third position in the table, just two points off the summit.

The Baht’atters last game against FC St Helens ended in a goalless draw, partly due to the extreme heat which meant neither team were able to find their rhythm.

The joint top goal scorers for Ilkley at the moment are Tom Smith and Shaban Mehmeti who are both currently on two goals.

Whereas for Holker Old Boys, they have just come off the back of a 3-0 victory against Garstang to get their first points of the season after two successive defeats, meaning they currently lie 10th in the table on three points.

Ilkley will need to watch out for Holker’s Jason Walker on Saturday, who is their current top goal scorer with three to his name so far this season.
