Ilkley women hit Silsden for 10 at the MPM
On a rainy Sunday afternoon, Ilkley thrashed the visitors thanks to a fantastic second half display including four goals from Millie Dawson and a hat-trick from Isabelle Armstrong, writes Evan Seaman.
The game sprang into action and The Baht’tatters opened the scoring when Armstrong’s looping shot fooled the opposition keeper to make it 1-0 to the hosts.
However, they were pegged back immediately when Silsden caught Ilkley on the counterattack, but their comeback did not last long as Armstrong bagged a brace and scored an almost identical goal.
Then until half time, Ilkley continued to dominate possession and looked good value for their lead and Armstrong got a hat-trick shortly afterwards as Silsden weren’t carrying much of an attacking threat.
Then in the second half, it was goals galore as the away side collapsed which allowed Ilkley to go on the attack.
In the end, they managed to get seven more goals which gave them a remarkable victory and puts them in good stead for the rest of the season.
The post-match interview with manager Claire Armstrong is up on social media where she discussed the result, development team and the goals scored today.
