Ilkley stroll to comfortable victory against Swallownest

Ilkley Town AFC picked up another valuable three points this weekend when they beat Swallownest at the MPM Stadium thanks to goals from Theirry, Josh Parker and Luke Baldwin, writes Evan Seaman.

The Baht’atters burst out of the blocks and were dominating possession, and for their reward when Alfie Dean whipped in a corner before Parker headed it home to make it 1-0.

But there were few chances for both sides throughout the match and the cold weather meant that they struggled to find their rhythm.

In the 66th minute, Thierry received the ball off Els before charging down the left side and landing the ball in the back of the net to double their advantage.

Then as the game ended, Dean bagged another assist when he set up Baldwin before he smashed the ball into the net to round off their victory.

The result means Ilkley go up to fourth in the table which means they sit comfortably in the playoff places, whereas Swallownest lanquish in 17th.

The attendance today was 70.

Next up for Ilkley is away at Wakefield AFC on Saturday which should be a competitive fixture with both teams sitting next to each other in the playoff places and will have hopes of being promoted by the end of the campaign.

Manager Sam Dexter gave his post-match thoughts and said that “I thought they were outstanding first half”.
