Ilkley hit six past Morley
A commanding display from Ilkley Town AFC as they comfortably beat Morley on a wet Sunday Afternoon which keeps their impressive run of form going, writes Evan Seaman.
Ilkley got off to the best possible start after some great teamwork before Isabel Macina smashed the ball into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 to the hosts.
Then shortly afterwards Morley made a defensive error which led to Jess Begbie going through on goal and chopping the goalkeeper into the net to extend their lead.
Not long before the break, Ilkley hit Morley on the counter and the ball fell to Isabelle Armstrong who slotted it home to put them in cruise control at half time.
The Baht’atters burst out of the blocks in the second half as Taylor got on the end of a nice move to make it 4-0.
There were also late strikes from Millie Dawson and Nat Eustance to round off the victory and move them further up the table, Isabel Macina also picked up player of the match.
Manager Claire Armstrong gave her thoughts on the game: “This is a fabulous group of women to work with, who are embracing and enjoying a new challenge this season. Their attitude and commitment to learn and improve is incredibly strong. Pleased with the win today and now we prepare for the next game."
