Ilkley lose 3-1 against Armthorpe Welfare
Ilkley Town AFC succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at home to Armthorpe on a freezing cold Saturday afternoon, despite a valiant performance at the MPM stadium, writes Evan Seaman.
There was a strong start on both sides after the first 10 minutes as there was a desire to break the deadlock and they looked nervous to do anything.
After the first half an hour, Harry Charlotte broke the deadlock for the visitors which put them in a comfortable position and went into the break with a 1-goal cushion.
Not long into the second half, Charlotte doubled their lead after a nicely worked goal which dampened Ilkley’s hopes of a comeback.
About 10 minutes before the end, Marc Newsham rounded off the scoring for the away side which has enabled them to move up the table into 14th position.
Ilkley’s Joe Snowden did give them a mere consolation at the end though, however their efforts weren’t good enough to get a result from the game.
The attendance for today’s game was 60, so hopefully there will be an improvement by the end of the season.
Next up for Ilkley is Athersley Recreation away from home who are currently 15th in the table, so it represents a good chance for Ilkley to get three points on the board.
